Professor Gates became the first Neurologist in Victoria to set up a regional center of Neurology for Geelong. He was entrusted with clinical neurology, clinical research, and teaching for regional Victoria. He has served as Director of Stroke, Director of Neuroscience and Director of Physician Training for Barwon Health, Geelong Victoria.
He was formerly a Sessional Medical Officer – Motor Accident Board Melbourne appointed to the whiplash study group, a Medical Lecturer at the Driver Rehabilitation Course
St Vincent’s Hospital and a member of Medical Panels Victoria.
Professor Gates has a depth of experience in all injuries, diseases, and disorders of the nervous system, including stroke, MS, brain tumours, epilepsy, ALS and dementia. He has served on medical panels for several years and will undertake personal injury claims, impairment assessments, fitness for duty and medical negligence work.
