Dr Gothelf completed advanced training in Orthopaedics and achieved fellowships in shoulder & foot/ankle Surgery, as well as in Sports Medicine which gives him invaluable knowledge of bio-mechanical processes that contribute to causation, the role of pre-existing conditions and in considering optimal recovery processes from injuries. With advanced training fellowships, he is often sought for reviews of surgical outcomes and secondary operative procedures.
He continues in clinical practice where he is able to draw on his experience both in sports medicine and as a Surgeon in considering treatment options not restricted to surgery only. He also continues in a clinical teaching role at Concord Hospital where he attends to public patients presenting with work-related, public liability and day to day activity accidents. He maintains membership of both American and Australian Orthopaedic Surgery Colleges and has had articles internationally published.
Dr Gothelf is a Certified Independent Medical Examiner (ABIME) and a SIRA Permanent Impairment Assessor for Workers Compensation assessing Lower Limb, Spine and Upper Limb presentations. He is an accredited Motor Vehicle AHP, Impairment Assessor for Workers Compensation Qld, Motor Vehicle ACT and TAC, as well as assessing Comcare and Medical Negligence presentations.
