Dr Vennela Kalluru completed her medical training in India and her postgraduate training in Psychiatry in the United Kingdom. She worked as a consultant Psychiatrist in the UK for over 7 years prior to moving to Australia in 2019, where she currently works as a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist with the Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health in Melbourne.

Dr Kalluru has over 14 years of experience in psychiatric medicolegal writing as an expert witness. Her experience includes:

• Acting as an independent expert witness in matters relating to fitness to stand trial and mental impairment
• Pre-sentencing reports
• Psychiatric reports for the Adult Parole Board
• Psychiatric reports for the Criminal Injuries Compensation Agency, UK
• Psychiatric reports for the Mental Health Review Tribunal Hearings
• Providing oral evidence as an expert witness in both civil and criminal court proceedings

She is fluent in English, Hindi and Telugu.
