MEDirect Modern Slavery Statement 2024
In accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2018, this statement outlines the steps that MEDirect has taken and is continuing to take to assess and reduce the risks of modern slavery within our business and supply chain, as well as our plans for review and improvement.
Introduction
MEDirect is committed to identifying, assessing, and addressing the risks of modern slavery in our operations and supply chain. This policy reflects our dedication to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships. It sets out the actions we are taking to ensure modern slavery is not taking place in our business or supply chains.
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms—such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking—all of which involve the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another for personal or commercial gain.
MEDirect recognises its responsibility under the Modern Slavery Act to take a strong approach to rejecting any form of modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to promoting ethical business practices and policies that protect workers from abuse and exploitation, both in our business and throughout our supply chain.
We also commit to limiting the risk of modern slavery occurring in our business and ensuring transparency in our operations and approach to tackling modern slavery. We expect our employees and suppliers to share this commitment.
Scope
This policy applies to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees, directors, officers, agency workers, contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
Compliance
MEDirect complies with:
the Modern Slavery Acts of the UK and Australia
the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act
France’s Duty of Vigilance Law
other relevant legislation
This policy outlines our approach to meeting these legal requirements.
Our Operations
MEDirect has conducted due diligence on modern slavery risks within our operations and supply chain, with a particular focus on the services delivered.
We believe there is no risk of modern slavery involving our contracted employees and business directors.
Our Supply Chain
Our supply chain is predominantly based in Australia. We believe these suppliers—Medical Experts conducting medicolegal independent medical examinations—have minimal to no risk of modern slavery occurring, as their operations are Australian-based and they are required to comply with the Modern Slavery Act within their own supply chains.
As a digital technology platform, MEDirect does not purchase typical goods and services associated with higher procurement risks (e.g., catering, uniforms, medical equipment, stationery). Our negligible procurement activities further reduce modern slavery risks in our business.
Risk Assessment and Control Measures
Annual Risk Assessments
We conduct comprehensive annual risk assessments of our operations and supply chains to identify potential modern slavery risks.
Stakeholder Engagement
We engage with stakeholders—including suppliers, customers, and employees—to understand and address potential risks.
Control Measures
Our control measures include:
supplier audits
employee and supplier training programs
clear mechanisms for reporting concerns or violations
Reporting and Transparency
MEDirect will publish annual Modern Slavery Statements detailing our efforts to address modern slavery risks and our progress in implementing this policy.
We maintain a Modern Slavery Register account and submit our statements as required by law.
Continuous Improvement
We are committed to continuously improving our practices to combat modern slavery in our supply chains. Feedback from internal and external stakeholders will be incorporated into ongoing policy review and improvement processes.
Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed and updated annually to reflect MEDirect’s ongoing commitment to fighting modern slavery and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
